Ubi caritas et amor

()
Maurice Duruflé
This lovely motet by Duruflé is based on the old plainchant - This performance is based on the Decani and Cantoris setup in Cathedrals, so the altos respond to each other across the Quire. I sang two tracks for each vocal line (except the altos, who are soloists) (SSAATTTTBBBB) in order to get the full Cathedral sound. Make sure your speakers are reasonably far apart, or use headphones, to get the full antiphonal effect.

Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est.
Congregavit nos in unum Christi amor.
Exultemus, et in ipso iucundemur.
Timeamus, et amemus Deum vivum.
Et ex corde diligamus nos sincero

Where holy and earthly love are, there is God, Christ`s love has brought us into one, let us rejoice in him and fear and love the living God, and prize him above all things with our heart.
